SIX WORD STORIES

SIX WORD STORY

Hello everyone.  This week you will all demonstrate what kind of authors you all are.  In the 1920s' friends of American author, Ernest Hemingway, bet him that he couldn't write a complete story using only six words.  Guess what?  They had to pay up because he was successful.  Not only was he successful but it was said that he considered it to be his best work.  So are you wondering what the six powerful words were?  Here is his complete story:
"For sale: baby shoes, never used."

What do you think?  What can you gather from the six words?  Surely anyone can accomplish this - right?  Why it's only six words!  Well you are going to try your hand at it but you're going to do two of them.  As you can see I have included a photograph below.  Use this as inspiration for your first six word story.  Then create your second six word story about any subject you like.  That's it.  Piece of cake, huh?  We'll see.

In an email type your first story inspired by the attached photograph and include your name.  Then under it type your second story with your name as well.  Send them both to me via email.  My email address is lhewett@columbus.k12.nc.us .  As you all send me your stories I will add them to this blog post.  Keep checking in to see what your peers have created.  Good luck and good writing!

Mr. Hewett
